A U.S. Secret Service officer has been arrested in Florida on charges of indecent exposure after allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct inside a hotel hallway, according to law enforcement officials.

The officer, identified as 33-year-old John Spillman, was taken into custody in Miami-Dade County after police responded to reports at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport and Convention Center. Authorities allege he was found naked and engaging in sexual activity in a public corridor late Monday night.

According to the arrest affidavit, hotel security and guests reported disturbing behavior, including claims that the officer followed a guest from the lobby, prompting her to retreat into a room out of fear. Security staff also reportedly witnessed the incident and alerted authorities immediately.

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that Spillman was off duty at the time and was in Miami supporting security operations for an unspecified event. The agency said he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both the criminal case and an internal investigation.

Chief Richard Macauley of the Secret Service Uniformed Division condemned the alleged conduct, calling it “unacceptable” and inconsistent with the standards expected of agency personnel. He emphasized that the matter is being treated with the “utmost seriousness.”

Spillman does not currently have legal representation listed in court records. A hearing in the case is scheduled for later this month as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
