Paris Saint-Germain F.C. booked their place in the 2026 UEFA Champions League Final after battling to a 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich in Munich, securing a 6-5 aggregate victory across the two-legged semifinal.
French forward Ousmane Dembele struck early for PSG, scoring just three minutes into the second leg to extend the Paris club’s aggregate lead. Bayern responded late through England captain Harry Kane, but the German champions could not find the decisive goal needed to force extra time.
The match was filled with controversy as Bayern players and fans reacted angrily to several refereeing decisions, including denied penalty appeals that proved pivotal in the tense semifinal clash.
Under manager Luis Enrique, PSG continued their impressive run of form, extending their away winning streak to six matches across all competitions. The result also marked the club’s second consecutive Champions League final appearance, making them the first team since Liverpool F.C. in 2018 and 2019 to achieve the feat.
PSG will now face Arsenal F.C. in the final on May 30 in Budapest after the Premier League side eliminated Atlético de Madrid in the other semifinal.
The final will also make history as only the fourth European Cup or Champions League final contested between clubs from two capital cities. Previous examples include finals involving Real Madrid CF, S.L. Benfica, AFC Ajax and Panathinaikos F.C..
PSG’s attacking trio, particularly Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, will now be a major concern for Arsenal ahead of the highly anticipated showdown for Europe’s biggest club football prize.
