Deadly Bangkok Train Crash Kills At Least 8 After Cargo Train Slams Into Public Bus

At least eight people were killed and more than 20 others injured after a cargo train collided with a public bus at a railway crossing in Bangkok on Saturday, authorities said.

The deadly crash occurred near an airport rail link station in central Bangkok during the late afternoon, according to Thai media reports and emergency officials.

Thailand’s Erawan Medical Center confirmed the fatalities and said rescue teams rushed dozens of injured victims to nearby hospitals following the collision.

Videos shared widely on social media captured the dramatic moment a cargo train slammed into an orange public bus that had stopped at the front of a line of vehicles waiting at the railway crossing.

The powerful impact dragged several nearby vehicles along the tracks before the bus burst into flames. Footage from the scene also showed motorcycles and riders being thrown onto the roadway during the crash.

Emergency crews and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene to battle the blaze and search for survivors trapped inside the wreckage.

Later images showed rescue workers entering the charred remains of the bus after firefighters brought the flames under control.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or confirmed what caused the collision. An investigation into the crash is expected to examine the railway crossing’s warning systems and traffic controls.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over railway crossing safety in Thailand, where transportation accidents remain a recurring issue in busy urban areas.
