The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris says that President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerian youths to shelve their planned nationwide protest.
Idris disclosed this to journalists after a meeting with President Tinubu at Aso Rock presidential villa.
The Minister said Tinubu does not see any need for protest.
He added that the President has listened to the demands of the youth and asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas.
He said the government was doing things to cushion the hardship experienced by Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike described the planned national protest dated August 1 as politically induced.
Wike stated this in Abuja during an inspection tour of the Apo Karshi Road, saying the planned protest is to divert the attention of Nigerians from efforts by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration
He appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the Federal Government as modalities are being worked to bring succour to the masses.
