Dunkin’ Announces Return to Canada Through Major Franchise Partnership with Foodtastic

American coffee and breakfast chain Dunkin’ is making a return to the Canadian market after years away, thanks to a new franchise agreement with Canadian restaurant operator Foodtastic.

Foodtastic revealed it has signed a master franchising deal with Inspire Brands, the parent company of Dunkin’, to reopen and expand the brand across Canada.

Under the agreement, Foodtastic plans to launch hundreds of Dunkin’ locations nationwide, marking a major comeback for the iconic U.S. café chain.

The company said the first new Dunkin’ restaurant in Canada is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.

Foodtastic already operates several recognized restaurant brands in Canada, including Second Cup, Milestones, and Freshii.

Dunkin’ previously had hundreds of Canadian outlets before exiting the market in 2018. The withdrawal came after Quebec franchise owners won a lawsuit accusing the company of failing to adequately support and promote the brand in Canada.

Founded in 1950, Dunkin’ is widely known for its coffee, doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches, and baked goods, and remains one of the largest quick-service coffee chains in the United States.

The planned expansion signals renewed confidence in the Canadian coffee market as competition continues to intensify among international and domestic café brands.
