A socio-cultural organization in Nigeria, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has raised concerns over the continued marginalization of people from the South-East region of the country, calling on President Tinubu to address the situation.

President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, in a statement, commended the call of the leader of the Southern and Middlebelt Leaders Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, for justice for the region.

He advised the people of the South-East region to support the Tinubu administration, as failure to do that could amount to calamity because of their huge investments scattered all over the country.

Iwuanyanwu cited instances to buttress his allegation including the creation of only five States in the  South-East Geo-political zone while other regions have up to six or seven States.

He also noted that of the forty-eight Ministers appointed by the President as required by law, only five are from the region as against some with up to ten.

“Forty-Eight Ministers were appointed by Mr President. By law of Federal Character, Southeast should have Eight Ministers but we have only Five Ministers while some other zones have up to Ten.”, he stated.

The Igbo leader also observed that despite all the efforts at the federal government level to develop railway infrastructure, nothing was done in the South-East, in spite of the fact that the indigenous people of the area are mainly traders who travel a lot.
