In a heartwarming twist, Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s daughters recently chose a special film for movie night: their parents’ iconic rom-com, 50 First Dates. During an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore shared her amusement at finding her daughter and Sandler’s daughter watching the 2004 classic in her living room. “I was like, ‘Why are you guys watching this? Don’t you get enough of me and your dad?’” Barrymore joked.

Barrymore, mother to Olive and Frankie, and Sandler, father to Sunny and Sadie, have each shared a lifetime of memorable roles, but 50 First Dates remains a standout for fans. The film tells the story of a man who falls in love with a woman with short-term memory loss, pursuing her each day as if it were their first date. Barrymore revealed that the film was originally titled 50 First Kisses and was set to have a more somber, dramatic ending in Seattle.

As Barrymore recounted, the original script had a bittersweet conclusion: “It was a drama, set in Seattle,” she explained. “The original ending has her saying, ‘You should go and live your life, because this is no life here.’ And he goes away, as he does, and he comes back and he walks into the restaurant, and he just sits down and says, ‘Hi, I’m Henry.’ And the film ends.” Ross Mathews, her co-host, even expressed his gratitude for the final, more upbeat ending we know today.
