The Nigerian Senate has passed the second reading of the Investments and Securities Bill 2024.

This bill aims to replace the outdated Investments and Securities Act of 2007, promoting economic growth.

This initiative was spearheaded by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Osita Izunaso, who emphasized the vital role of the capital market in driving economic growth.

Speaking in support of the bill, other Senators believed it will protect investors by enforcing stricter regulations and enhancing market transparency.

In his remarks, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio who committed the bill to committee on the capital market for further legislation function, emphasized that the legislation is crucial for strengthening Nigeria’s economy.
