Edo-Born Afrobeat Artiste Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema has performed the groundbreaking for the proposed Six thousand capacity seater Edo event centre and conference hall known as the Dome.
The events centre is located at the former Garrick Memorial Secondary School premises on Ekenwan Road Benin City. The land was acquired by the state government five years ago .
The formal groundbreaking of the Edo Events and Conference Centre was performed by Rema as Supervised by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Afrobeats sensation arrived his hometown of Benin city, Edo state, ahead of the highly anticipated homecoming concert.

His record label, Mavin, on Tuesday, shared a video of his arrival on X.com, captioned “Benin, your illustrious son; The Prince of Afrobeats – Rema is Home!”

The concert, scheduled for August 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was first announced by the Ozeba crooner in July.
Governor Obaseki’s previous attempt to host Rema in December 2023 was cancelled due to health concerns.
