The wife of the Nigerian President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has flagged off the inaugural ceremony for the first 240 members of the Young Farmers Club, an initiative which aims to engage young people early on to instil a passion for agriculture and farming.

The event which took place in Abuja marked the official launch of the Club.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady said the club, a collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), was designed to catch the youth early in the area of farming.
She said that the club spread across various schools in Nigeria, would create the understanding that farming is not just an occupation but a way of life which can create employment opportunities for the teeming youth population and help diversify the economy.
In their remarks, the Ministers of Agriculture and Food Security said the initiative would enhance the interest of the young in agriculture as a career.

The inductees, dressed in their Club uniforms, took the pledge administered by the Minister and received their membership cards and farming tools from the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
