Nigeria’s Labour Party has moved against Abia governor, Alex Otti and others calling for the conduct of the party’s National Executive Committee meeting to set up a caretaker committee.
Governor Otti had met with the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure where he tendered his intent to convene a NEC meeting on Saturday, August 31.
The governor argued that the tenure of the party’s current leadership had expired long ago.
But the National Working Committee, NWC of the party in a meeting convened by Abure, countered the move, stating that there is no vacuum in the leadership of the Party.
The party while insisting there’s no leadership crisis, announced the establishment of a disciplinary committee to be chaired by Barrister Kehinde Edun, its National Legal Adviser.
Abure-led executives warned party members against causing trouble in the party at the meeting which was also attended by other NWC members including its National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

The national leadership of the party warned that it will not hesitate to discipline any member of the Party who is not ready to obey the Constitution of the Party and indeed, obey the lawful directive of the leadership of the Party.
