The United Nations has assured that it will support those rescued and survivors affected by the devastating flood in Maiduguri, Borno state that killed over 30 people and dislodged thousands of families from their homes.

The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum at the government house in Maiduguri.

 

The United Nations first held a press conference to give an update on the humanitarian activities carried out in the past five days following the flood that ransacked residents from their homes and left half of the capital submerged.

The UN resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria, Mohammed Malick Fall said it is focused on ensuring that those affected and trapped are rescued.

Governor Zulum appreciated the United Nations team and assured of commitment to short and longer term solutions for affected communities.
