With just a few days before the Edo State Governorship off Cycle Election billed for September 21, the ruling party in the state PDP has accused the Nigerian police of being one-sided in the electioneering process.

The Governorship Candidate of the party Asue Ighodalo disclosed this to journalists shortly after the INEC Stakeholders meeting held in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Wednesday.

Ighodalo expressed worry that the Police under the manipulation of the APC, had arrested several of their members, and whisked them to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja without subjecting the accused to court in the state to determine their offences.

The PDP Governorship flag bearer also noted that despite their party petitions to the IGP over the harassment of the party leaders there was no meaningful response from the IGP.

He said the PDP is ready for the election next week Saturday, Ighodalo said the party have no confidence in the police to guarantee their members a peaceful atmosphere on election day.
