The Police Commissioner in Kano State, Usaini Gumel, has said the Police will not evict the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero from his Nasarawa Palace.

Mr Gumel said the Police would not carry out the eviction order due to the legal tussle surrounding the matter.

The police boss said that the Kano State government had filed an eviction order before the state High Court.

The state government directed the Police in the state to evict Bayero from his Nasarawa Palace to pave the way for renovations. That was on Thursday night.

The eviction order was issued by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Dederi.

But the police boss said obeying the eviction order would amount to preempting the courts.

Gumel said the government is jumping the gun because the same government has filed a case on the eviction order, which is coming up on the 24th of June, 2024.
