UAE Reports Drone and Missile Attack as Iran War Ceasefire Faces New Strain

The United Arab Emirates has reported intercepting a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks amid growing concerns that the fragile ceasefire linked to the Iran conflict is beginning to unravel.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, air defense systems were activated to intercept incoming ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, with loud explosions heard across parts of the country during the defensive operations.

Officials said the attacks came as regional tensions intensified around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that has remained at the center of the ongoing crisis. The reported assault has raised fears that the ceasefire negotiated between Iran and the United States could collapse entirely.

U.S. military officials confirmed that American naval forces also intercepted Iranian attacks targeting warships near the Strait of Hormuz. In response, the United States carried out retaliatory strikes on Iranian military sites believed to be linked to the attacks.

Despite the renewed hostilities, President Donald Trump has maintained that the ceasefire technically remains in place, even as both sides accuse each other of escalating the conflict.

The UAE condemned the strikes as a direct threat to national security, while regional governments and international observers urged restraint to prevent a broader Middle East conflict. Analysts warn that continued instability could severely impact global oil supplies and international shipping routes.

Reports indicate that fires and disruptions were also recorded near energy infrastructure in parts of the UAE, adding to concerns about the safety of oil facilities and maritime trade operations.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials have denied responsibility for some of the attacks, insisting that Tehran remains committed to the ceasefire arrangement.

The situation remains highly volatile as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes to preserve the truce and prevent further military escalation across the Gulf region.
