Stop Using My Name, Ex-husband, Alison-Madueke Warns Diezani

Nigeria’s former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Alison Madueke has taken legal steps at the Lagos State High Court to prevent his estranged wife, Dieziani Alison-Madueke from bearing his surname.

The petition of the former Naval chief aims for a legal declaration towards ending their marriage, and mandates that Diezani reverts to her maiden name, Agama.

Madueke claims in the petition that Diezani’s continued use of his name despite being legally separated from her, is damaging to his reputation.

According to him, the association with her name, given the corruption allegations against her, could lead to mistaken liability.

The former Chief of Naval Staff, who had also served as a military governor of Anambra and Imo states, married Diezani on June 30, 1999, under the Marriage Act.

He noted that Diezani filed for divorce in November 2021 at the Nassarawa State High Court in Mararaba Gurku, citing an irretrievable breakdown of their marriage.
