Pro-Palestinian Encampment Ends at University of Manitoba

Winnipeg, July 15, 2024 – A pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Manitoba has been taken down after more than two months of peaceful protest.

The encampment, established by Students for Justice in Palestine on May 7, was situated in an open, grassy area on the south side of the campus. Over the weekend, tents and other protest materials were removed, and university officials confirmed that the demonstrators departed without incident.

University administration had issued a warning of potential legal action if the encampment was not dismantled by Monday morning. Following the peaceful departure of the protesters, no legal measures were necessary.
