President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome of the governorship election as a reflection of the confidence and will of the people of Osun State.
Tinubu said he personally spoke with Adeleke to congratulate him following his victory in the election. He described the result as a positive indication that democracy continues to thrive in Nigeria.
The president also urged Adeleke to use his renewed four-year mandate to unite the people of Osun State, regardless of their political affiliations, and focus on growth, stability and social and economic development.
Tinubu commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
Adeleke’s re-election gives him another four years to pursue his administration’s development agenda in Osun State. The result also comes amid heightened political attention ahead of Nigeria’s next electoral cycle.
The president called on Adeleke to make his second term an opportunity to deepen development across the state and ensure that governance benefits residents regardless of how they voted.
The outcome is expected to remain a major talking point in Nigerian political circles, particularly because of the significance of the Osun election in shaping the political landscape ahead of future elections.
