Justin Trudeau to Strengthen AI and Transatlantic Ties in Paris and Brussels

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will travel to Paris, France, and Brussels, Belgium, from February 8 to 12, 2025, to enhance transatlantic co-operation and drive global progress in artificial intelligence (AI).

In Paris, Trudeau will attend the AI Action Summit, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, engaging with business and policy leaders on AI’s role in job creation and economic opportunities. Canada is leading AI innovation while ensuring trust and safety. At the Summit, he will deliver a keynote address reinforcing Canada’s position as a global AI leader and advocating for responsible AI development.

As the G7 President for 2025, Canada remains committed to addressing geopolitical instability, disinformation, and climate change. On the Summit’s sidelines, Trudeau will meet world leaders to discuss international trade, security, and economic stability.

Trudeau will then head to Brussels for a Canada-European Union (EU) Leaders’ Meeting, collaborating with EU counterparts to enhance transatlantic security, support Ukraine, and strengthen economic ties through the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). He will also meet NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to reaffirm Canada’s commitment to global peace and security.

Throughout his visit, Trudeau will reinforce Canada’s leadership in AI, deepen international partnerships, and address global challenges in the interest of Canadians.
