Israeli Strikes On Gaza City Kill Dozens – Hamas

At least 38 people have been killed and many more injured as Israeli forces landed two air strikes on buildings in Gaza City, says Hamas.

The Israeli military said warplanes had struck Hamas military infrastructure sites and it would provide more details later.

Gaza’s civil defense spokesman said one of Gaza’s historic refugee camps, a residential block in the al-Shati area, was hit several times. The other strike targeted houses in the al-Tuffah district, the Hamas-run government media office said.

Footage captured people carrying away the wounded and searching for survivors in the wreckage as dust filled the streets.

According to earlier reports, the estimated death toll was put at 42.

Israel’s campaign to destroy Hamas was launched in response to an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people, most of them civilians, were killed and about 251 others were taken hostage.

The territory’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 37,551 people have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the crisis.

14,680 of the dead have reportedly been identified as children, women and elderly as at the end of April.
