A Connecticut homeowner who recently purchased a foreclosed property at auction made a shocking discovery after finding skeletal human remains inside the residence, authorities have confirmed.
According to the Connecticut State Police, troopers were called to a home on Stanwich Lane in Burlington on Sunday after the new owner uncovered the remains while inspecting the property. The house had been sold “as is” during a foreclosure auction, meaning it was purchased in its existing condition without guarantees regarding its state or contents.
Investigators launched an inquiry following the discovery, while the remains were transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination. Authorities said the medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of death, nor has the identity of the deceased been established.
Despite the unusual nature of the case, law enforcement officials emphasized that there is currently no evidence suggesting foul play. Police stated that investigators have found no indication of suspicious circumstances or any criminal activity connected to the remains.
“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public at this time,” Connecticut State Police said in a statement.
The discovery has raised questions about how long the remains may have been inside the property and whether they belonged to a former occupant. However, officials have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates once the medical examination is completed and the identity of the deceased is confirmed.
