Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint In Abia State, Kill Two Officers, Injure One

Unknown gunmen on Friday evening killed two police officers and injured another following an attack on their duty post at the well known Opobo Intersection along the Aba-Ikot Ekpene Expressway in Abia State.

It was gathered that the policemen were at the spot for their usual night stop-and-search activity.

However, it was reported that in a few minutes, several police patrol teams arrived in the area as residents fled the road.

An eyewitness account stated that the gunmen, numbering six, came in a Sienna sport utility vehicle.

The shooting caused pandemonium in the area and shop owners along the road and traders closing shops and scampering for safety
