Doug Armstrong has stepped down from his role as general manager of Canada’s Olympic men’s hockey team, concluding a two-year tenure that ended with a silver medal finish at the Milan Cortina Games.
Hockey Canada confirmed that Armstrong informed the organization of his decision, stating he will now focus fully on his responsibilities as general manager of the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.
Armstrong’s contract with Hockey Canada expired following the conclusion of the Milan Cortina Olympics, where Canada advanced to the final but narrowly lost 2-1 in overtime to the United States.
During his tenure, the 61-year-old oversaw key international competitions, including leading Canada’s management group at the IIHF World Championships and the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
His departure marks a transition period for Canada’s national hockey program as it looks ahead to future international competitions following a strong but ultimately runner-up Olympic campaign.
