Club América Beat Washington Spirit 5-3 to Win CONCACAF W Champions Cup Title

Club América captured the 2026 CONCACAF W Champions Cup title after an electrifying 5-3 victory over Washington Spirit in a dramatic final played in Pachuca.

Club América captain Scarlett Camberos delivered a standout performance, scoring once and providing two assists to earn Player of the Match honors as the Mexican side secured the regional championship.

The final at Estadio Hidalgo saw Club América race into an early lead when Aylín Aviléz scored in the 22nd minute from a Camberos assist. Brazilian forward Geyse doubled the advantage five minutes later to put the Liga MX Femenil club firmly in control.

The Washington Spirit responded before halftime through Sofia Cantore, who scored from long range to reduce the deficit. Just 35 seconds into the second half, Rosemonde Kouassi equalized for the NWSL side.

Kouassi struck again in the 58th minute to give Washington Spirit a 3-2 lead and finished the tournament as the top scorer with six goals overall.

However, Club América quickly fought back after goalkeeper Sandy MacIver made a costly mistake that allowed Geyse to score her second goal of the night and level the match at 3-3.

Spanish midfielder Irene Guerrero then scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute, finishing another setup from Camberos to restore América’s lead.

Camberos sealed the victory deep into stoppage time with Club América’s fifth goal, completing a memorable night for the Mexican champions.

Despite the defeat, Washington Spirit defender Kate Wiesner praised her team’s resilience after battling back from two goals down.

The final marked the second edition of the CONCACAF W Champions Cup, the premier women’s club competition in the region. Earlier in the day, Pachuca defeated defending champions Gotham FC 3-0 in the third-place match.
