B.C. Cabinet Shuffle Puts Osborne in Finance and Kahlon in Health

British Columbia Premier David Eby has announced changes to his cabinet, moving Brenda Bailey Osborne into the finance portfolio and appointing Rachna Singh Kahlon as health minister.

The cabinet shuffle is aimed at strengthening the provincial government’s focus on key economic and healthcare priorities. Finance and health are among the most closely watched portfolios in B.C., with the government facing pressure over the cost of living, public spending, healthcare access and the province’s broader economic outlook.

The changes come as Eby’s government works to address financial pressures while responding to ongoing demands on the healthcare system. The new ministers will take on their respective responsibilities as the government prepares to implement its policy priorities.

The finance minister will be responsible for overseeing B.C.’s budget, provincial spending and economic strategy, while the health minister will manage one of the province’s largest public portfolios, including healthcare delivery and system capacity.

Eby said the cabinet changes are intended to ensure his government has the leadership needed to respond to the challenges facing British Columbians.

The shuffle is expected to draw close attention from opposition parties, healthcare organizations, business groups and other stakeholders as they assess what the changes could mean for provincial policy.
