Muhammed Umar, Chairman, Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, has expressed concern over low turnout of voters at the local government elections conducted in the state on Saturday.
Umar expressed the concern shortly after inspecting some polling units in Yola South and Yola North local Government areas.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections.dispite the low turnout in some areas, he was with satisfied with the exercise.
While casting his vote Jibirin Muhammad Jimeta who contested for the ticket of chairmanship said the exercise is part of the franchise hence the need of people to come out and exercise their civic responsibility.
One of the electoral observers, Jamilu Yusuf of the organization, Innovation Sustainability and Development commended the level of the exercise especially in Yola North local government.
The level of turnout in some local governments such as Yola North, Yola south and Fufore visited by our Correspondents is due to the hardship being faced by the people.
Some of the electorate expressed the concern over the Election.
