This week, parts of Canada will experience cloudy and rainy conditions as a weather system gradually moves north from the United States. The system will bring heavy rain to Ontario and Quebec, with the southern regions expected to be the wettest.
Kelsey McEwen, chief meteorologist and co-host of CTV’s Your Morning, noted that Ontario and Quebec will see thunderstorms and rain showers, especially in the afternoons and evenings during the first few days of the week. However, conditions are expected to improve by Thursday and Friday, with drier and sunnier weather.
While McEwen described the weather system as not severe, she warned that isolated thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could occur, with 20 to 40 millimeters of rain expected in the affected areas from Monday through Wednesday.
Northern Ontario and Quebec will enjoy sunny and warm weather, offering a stark contrast to the southern regions. The same weather system will move into Atlantic Canada by Tuesday night, bringing periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms through the end of the week. In Labrador, snow is expected on Wednesday night, with Newfoundland’s northern peninsula seeing a mix of rain and snow on Thursday.
In the Prairies, a disturbance will bring rainfall to parts of Saskatchewan, expected to end by Monday night. After this, the weather will become dry and warm, particularly in Alberta and Saskatchewan, where temperatures will rise amidst ongoing wildfire activity near Grande Prairie.
British Columbia will see a different pattern, as a frontal system moves onto the coastline, bringing rain and snow, particularly to areas north of Vancouver Island. Portions of the Interior and northern B.C. will experience rain and snow, with the central coast receiving the heaviest precipitation on Tuesday.
