British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported from the United States to the United Kingdom after being arrested by U.S. immigration authorities for overstaying his visa.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported Yiannopoulos on Friday, one day after agents arrested him at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana.
According to U.S. officials, Yiannopoulos legally entered the United States in May 2019 but remained in the country beyond the period authorized by his visa. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22, 2026, after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for an immigration hearing.
Yiannopoulos, 41, became prominent in conservative and far-right political circles through his provocative commentary on issues including immigration, Islam and feminism. He was formerly an editor at Breitbart News and was a vocal supporter of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
His deportation has attracted particular attention because Yiannopoulos had previously advocated for significantly tougher immigration enforcement in the United States. In social media posts, he had called for widespread ICE checkpoints and the rapid deportation of people unable to demonstrate legal residency.
The circumstances surrounding his presence in New Orleans were not immediately clear, although reports linked his visit to a scheduled performance by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Yiannopoulos has previously worked with Ye and has maintained ties to the musician.
The case comes as the Trump administration continues a broader immigration crackdown, with federal authorities increasing enforcement against people who violate U.S. immigration laws.
Yiannopoulos was not immediately available for comment following his deportation, according to reports.
His removal highlights the potential consequences of visa overstays and missed immigration hearings, while also drawing attention to the Trump administration’s intensified enforcement policies.
