Double Homicide in Winnipeg Leaves Two Dead

A 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman are dead following a double homicide in Winnipeg over the weekend. Police responded to a call at around 4:15 a.m. on Saturday at a residence on Alfred Avenue, near Aikins Street, after reports of a woman being shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered an injured man outside the house and the woman inside, both of whom had been shot.

Emergency services provided immediate care, and the victims were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save them, both Sheldon Derrach Catcheway, 33, and Shanastene Irene McLeod, 35, later died.

Catcheway, from Swan Lake First Nation, and McLeod, from Muskowekwan First Nation in Saskatchewan, were both residing in Winnipeg at the time of the incident. Authorities have not made any arrests, and further details are yet to be released.
