Andrew Chadwick, a professor of political communication at Loughborough University, notes Musk’s political advocacy reflects his libertarian, anti-state, and anti-regulation beliefs. “Musk appears to be aligning himself with political movements worldwide that share his ideology while simultaneously portraying himself as an independent thinker,” said Chadwick.

Despite his immense following of over 210 million on X, Musk’s recent political engagements suggest he seeks a broader influence. His interventions in Canadian politics and support for Poilievre could signal a growing interest in shaping political discourse beyond his native and adopted countries.
