Zelenskyy: Russia Trying to Create Illusion of Ceasefire While Continuing Military Strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of orchestrating a deceptive strategy aimed at misleading the international community into believing a ceasefire is underway, while simultaneously continuing its aggressive military operations across Ukraine.
In a recent statement, Zelenskyy stated that despite Russia’s rhetoric suggesting a potential de-escalation or pause in hostilities, Ukrainian cities and frontline positions remain under heavy fire. He warned that Russia is using the narrative of a ceasefire as a political tool to gain leverage in diplomatic discussions while its troops maintain a relentless offensive on the ground.
“Russia is trying to create an impression of a ceasefire, but in reality, missiles are still flying, drones are still attacking, and people are still dying,” Zelenskyy said during his nightly address to the nation. “There is no ceasefire when Ukrainian cities are being shelled daily.”
