A Winnipeg chiropractor, Dr. Robert Stitt, faces eight counts of voyeurism after police uncovered cameras disguised as sprinkler heads in his Portage Avenue clinic, according to court documents. The investigation, launched by Winnipeg Police Service after a tip-off from the Manitoba Chiropractors Association (MCA), spanned a year and involved a search warrant executed at the clinic.
The MCA confirmed Dr. Stitt’s license was suspended in January 2024, pending resolution of the case. “Immediate steps were taken to ensure public safety,” said Dana Forster, MCA’s executive director, in a statement.
Holes in the ceilings of treatment rooms were visible when the clinic was inspected in December 2024. Court filings revealed police seized five cameras disguised as sprinkler heads, though the building lacks a sprinkler system.
Search warrant documents show MCA investigators became aware of the hidden cameras during a separate investigation. Court documents state Dr. Stitt showed an MCA investigator video files that allegedly revealed disrobed females, prompting immediate notification to authorities.
Manitoba Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara commented on potential legislative changes to improve transparency and accountability within the chiropractic profession, which is not currently covered by the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Dr. Stitt’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 1. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
