Warrington Wolves secured their third consecutive win over St Helens in just six weeks, prevailing 32-18 in an intense Super League clash. Having previously beaten Saints in the league and the Challenge Cup, Warrington completed the treble with a commanding second-half performance despite the absence of playmaker Marc Sneyd due to a fractured eye socket.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with Warrington holding a narrow 16-14 lead. Tries from Toby King and a Matty Ashton double were met with replies from Jon Bennison and a Mark Percival brace for Saints. George Whitby converted one of Percival’s tries to keep the visitors within touching distance.
Ashton completed his hat-trick early in the second half before Rodrick Tai and Matt Dufty added further scores for the hosts. Despite a late try from Bennison, St Helens couldn’t mount a comeback, marking their 15th consecutive loss against top Super League teams.
Warrington now sit seventh in the table, just behind St Helens and Leeds Rhinos on points difference. Head coach Sam Burgess called the victory his “proudest day” in charge, praising his squad’s resilience under adversity. In contrast, St Helens’ Paul Wellens lamented his team’s poor discipline and defensive frailties.
