Transport Canada has issued a recall affecting more than 20,000 Volkswagen SUVs due to a potential fire hazard near the engine compartment.
The recall impacts 2024 and 2025 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models. According to a notice updated on Feb. 28, the engine cover on some vehicles may become loose after service work. If the cover comes into contact with hot surfaces, it could melt, increasing the risk of fire.
Volkswagen will notify affected owners by mail, instructing them to visit a dealership where the engine cover will be removed. For further details, owners can contact Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has also issued a recall for the same models, affecting approximately 177,493 vehicles in the U.S.
