The horrifying attack by terrorists left dozens dead and numerous homes in ruins in the town of Mafa of Yobe State in Nigeria’s Northeast on Sunday.
The assault, which lasted several hours, has been condemned by many and there are urgent calls for increased security measures.
Officials of the Yobe state government led by the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde-Gubana have conducted funeral prayers for 34 victims of the attack in Tarmua as search for more corpses are said to be ongoing.
The Deputy Governor sympathised with the victims. He said the state government will work closely with the federal government to provide a military formation in the area to forestall further occurrences.
