The Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC has held a One-Day meeting for stakeholders in 111 Schools across the federation to address key issues bordering on UBE programme Implementation and the need to provide a conducive environment for Nigeria’s school-aged population.
Speaking at the meeting in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi explained that the gesture is in response to the learning crisis as well as the determination of the commission to leave a legacy of improved processes and outcomes in order to continue its pursuit of quality services in the basic education sub-sector.
Represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Technical, Prof .Bala Zakari, Bobboyi noted that the commission believes in the capacity of the education system to re-invent itself, address notable challenges and work towards sustainable progress especially in learning achievement.
As for them in the commission, this ideal is at the heart of the Effective Schools Programme (ESP), which is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of UBE delivery by ensuring that minimum standards are attained and maintained in all educational programmes.
The participants to this meeting were drawn from UBEC, SUBEB Coordinating Directors and Head Teachers of the UBE Effective Schools across the federation, which means three participants in each senatorial zones and two from the FCT.
