Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, Michael Okpara University branch have joined in the indefinite strike declared by the national body.
The chairman of the Senior Staff Association of universities in the university, St. Elvis Ogbuagu and his secretary Louis Agukwu said it has become expedient that the workers of the two unions downed tools to drive home their demands.
Part of their demands they say include four months owed arrears of salaries and non-implementation of the agreement as reached with the federal government some time ago.
The leadership at MOUAU says at noon the indefinite strike will officially commence while supervision of compliance commences in earnest.
