The Senate Wednesday announced the removal of Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South senatorial district as the Chief Whip of the Senate, replacing him with his Borno North counterpart, Tahir Mungono.
The decision was announced on Wednesday after a letter of complaint against Senator Ndume by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress was read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, in plenary.
The letter, which was signed by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and the Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashir, explained that Ndume in his capacity as Chief Whip was working to bring down the country through his unguarded utterances.
When the matter was put to a voice vote by Akpabio, members of the APC Senate Caucus endorsed Ndume’s removal and he was immediately replaced.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has asked the Upper legislative chamber to speedily consider and approve a supplementary budget of N3.2 trillion.
Tinubu’s request was read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday.
