(VIDEO) OXFAM Partners CRUDAN to Stop Flood in Numan

In a proactive response to the recurring flood challenges in Numan, Adamawa State, the Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria (CRUDAN) and Oxfam held a one-day workshop focused on flood mitigation.

 

This initiative brought together key stakeholders and media representatives to explore strategies to minimize the flood-related loss of lives and property

The one-day workshop was meant to take action against the annual occurrence of the incident that claims lives and properties.

The partnering non-governmental organizations include, Oxfam, CRUDAN and Wahafa Project took actions against the impact of flood in Numan, Adamawa and drought situation in Baure of Katsina States.

The stakeholders want communities around Numan local government with population of three hundred and seventy six thousand, twenty six people to adhere to flood warnings.

The country director of Oxfam, John Makina, represented by Dr. William Mafalan described the programme as unique and different for selecting Numan local government area as pilot project for disaster reduction.

Speaking, the Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria, executive Director Joseph Gyandi appreciated the partnership, calling on the stakeholders engaged to own the project.

The representative of the executive secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Johnson Maxwell, and that of planning commission, among others appreciated the CRUDAN and OXFAM for the engagement, noting that this would go a long way of sensitizing the communities along the river bank.

There were goodwill messages from the Stakeholders within Imburu district with the commitment to reach others with the campaign aim at reducing the impact of the disaster.
