The Nigerian Senate says rumours of impeachment of the President of the Senate are coming from paid agents bent on causing confusion in the polity.
Reacting to an online publication which claimed that there were underground moves to remove him from office, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio said there was no end to the manipulation of social media by people with ulterior motives.
He described such reports as fake and should be disregarded.
Akpabio thereafter asked the Senate Committee on Special Duties to investigate the matter and report back as soon as possible.
The publication had alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services DSS have taken over the National Assembly Complex to stop the rumoured impeachment moves.
