Vancouver Director Lands ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ With Blood-Soaked Zoom Pitch

Vancouver filmmaker Zachary Lipovsky and co-director Adam B. Stein secured their roles helming Final Destination: Bloodlines with an audacious Zoom pitch featuring staged chaos and a fake decapitation. The sixth entry in the cult horror franchise, opening Friday, continues the series’ theme of inescapable fate and inventive deaths.

Set partly in 1960s Vancouver, the new installment stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a student haunted by her family’s deadly premonition. With a major sequence filmed at Vancouver’s Planetarium and a record-breaking fire stunt by 71-year-old Yvette Ferguson, the film pays homage to the city’s legacy with the franchise.

Publicity stunts, including gory billboards and a bloodied log truck on Canadian highways, are ramping up buzz for the release. Lipovsky, reflecting on his ties to past cast members and filming locations, called it “homegrown,” while Stein praised the film’s emotional depth, echoing their earlier sci-fi hit Freaks.
