The Vancouver International Auto Show shattered attendance records despite calls for a boycott from Tesla supporters, following the brand’s exclusion on safety grounds. Organizers reported over 138,000 visitors over five days, with Saturday alone setting a new single-day record of more than 42,000 attendees at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Executive director Eric Nicholl defended the decision to ban Tesla, citing concerns for the safety of workers, attendees, and exhibitors. The move came amid ongoing protests and vandalism at Tesla dealerships across Canada, linked to CEO Elon Musk’s association with U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
Despite backlash from Musk’s supporters, the show gained international attention, ultimately driving record-breaking foot traffic.
