{"id":39,"date":"2024-06-22T18:08:22","date_gmt":"2024-06-22T18:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swifteradio.com\/update\/?p=39"},"modified":"2024-06-22T18:08:22","modified_gmt":"2024-06-22T18:08:22","slug":"nigeria-cholera-outbreak-death-toll-hits-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swifteradio.com\/update\/nigeria-cholera-outbreak-death-toll-hits-40\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria Cholera Outbreak- Death Toll Hits 40"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><b>The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, says that the suspected cholera cases in Lagos have risen to 423 as the state recorded six new infections as of June 20.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He stated this on his Instagram Saturday morning, 24 hours after he announced an increase in the number of deaths recorded from the disease rampaging the state.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2760\" src=\"https:\/\/swifteradio.com\/update\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/images-11-300x199.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr Abayomi, as of Friday, noted that 24 deaths and 35 confirmed infections out of 417 suspected cases were recorded across 20 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the state.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Swifteradio. com reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that the country has run out of cholera vaccines as the death toll across the country hits 40.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The report noted that the agency\u2019s Director General, Jide Idris, said Nigeria has placed an order for more vaccines from donor agencies, but could not announce the possible delivery date.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Cases were reported from Agege, Badagry, Ikeja, Mushin, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Epe, Ikorodu, Ojo, Alimosho, and Eti-Osa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Others are Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Amuwo-Odofin, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Shomolu, Apapa, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos Mainland, and Surulere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">SOURCE: swifteradio. com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, says that the suspected cholera cases in Lagos have risen to 423 as the state recorded six new infections as of June 20.
