Former US President Donald Trump has attributed his being alive as \u201cby luck or by God\u201d, after Saturday night’s attempt on his life at a rally in Pennsylvania.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump told conservative US media in one of his first interviews since the incident that \u201che’s supposed to be dead\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe most incredible thing was that I happened to not only turn [my head] but to turn at the exact right time and in just the right amount,” he said, adding that he could have been killed by the bullet that grazed his ear.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m supposed to be dead, I\u2019m not supposed to be here,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

A man in the audience identified as Corey Comperatore was killed in the attack, while two others were seriously injured. The gunman, who also died, was named as Thomas Matthew Crooks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, undeterred by Saturday\u2019s attempt on his life, Trump has arrived in Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention.<\/span><\/p>\n

The party conference in Milwaukee is kicking off as scheduled despite security concerns due to the attack on Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, in which he was shot in the ear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump had taken to social media to inform his supporters that he planned to delay his journey by two days, \u201cbut have just decided that I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The assassination attempt on Trump has raised attention on safety and security of the event which begins on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n
