{"id":24082,"date":"2026-09-11T01:43:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T01:43:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swifteradio.com\/update\/?p=24082"},"modified":"2026-09-12T01:00:34","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T01:00:34","slug":"lagos-building-collapse-one-dead-two-rescued-aboru-demolition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swifteradio.com\/update\/lagos-building-collapse-one-dead-two-rescued-aboru-demolition\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Building Collapse: One Dead, Two Rescued in Aboru"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ABORU, LAGOS<\/strong> \u2014 One person has died and two others were rescued after a two-storey building undergoing manual demolition collapsed in Aboru, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened around midnight at No. 42 Governors Road, Aboru, according to information released by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).<\/p>\n<h2>Emergency teams responded after distress call<\/h2>\n<p>LASEMA said its Alpha Eagle Response Team was dispatched from the Cappa, Oshodi Response Unit at about 12:56 a.m. following a distress call. Responders found workers trapped beneath the rubble and immediately began search and rescue operations.<\/p>\n<p>Two adult males were rescued alive during the operation. Personnel of the Lagos State Ambulance Service provided first aid before the survivors were taken to a nearby health facility for further medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>One adult male was recovered dead from beneath the collapsed structure.<\/p>\n<h2>LASEMA warns against unsafe demolition work<\/h2>\n<p>Preliminary findings indicated that the building was being manually demolished when it collapsed. LASEMA urged property owners, developers and contractors to follow building and demolition regulations and engage qualified professionals.<\/p>\n<p>The agency also advised residents to report unsafe building activity through Lagos emergency numbers 767 and 112.<\/p>\n<h2>Why the Lagos building collapse matters<\/h2>\n<p>Building collapses remain a major public-safety concern in Lagos, where enforcement, construction quality, supervision and demolition practices continue to attract scrutiny.
