A tourist helicopter crash on the Hawaiian island of Kauai has left three people dead and two others injured after the aircraft went down Thursday afternoon on the remote Kalalau Beach along the island\u2019s famous Na Pali Coast.<\/p>\n
According to the Kauai Fire Department, the helicopter was carrying a pilot and four passengers when it crashed at the beach, which is located on Kauai\u2019s north shore and is only accessible by hiking or boat. Authorities confirmed that three people died at the scene, while the two survivors were transported to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been released.<\/p>\n
Officials said the helicopter was operated by Airborne Aviation, a company that offers sightseeing tours of Kauai\u2019s dramatic landscapes, including canyons, waterfalls and the towering cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. The company advertises adventure flights, including \u201cdoors-off\u201d helicopter tours designed to give visitors an unobstructed aerial view of the island.<\/p>\n

However, the crash comes less than a year after another tour helicopter accident on the island in July 2024 that killed the pilot and two passengers. Investigators later determined that aircraft broke apart in flight after turbulence caused the rotor blades to strike the helicopter\u2019s airframe.<\/p>\n
