    Canada is co-hosting the 2026 tournament alongside the United States and Mexico, marking the first time three countries will jointly host the men’s World Cup.

    The Canadian portion of the tournament will feature 13 matches spread across two major cities. Toronto will host six games, while Vancouver will stage seven matches between June 11 and July 19, 2026.

    Preparations are already underway in both cities, including significant stadium upgrades and infrastructure improvements. In Toronto, work continues at BMO Field to transform the venue into a FIFA-compliant World Cup stadium capable of hosting international matches and accommodating larger crowds.

    Supporters of the investment argue the tournament will generate major economic activity through tourism, hospitality, global exposure, and job creation. Critics, however, continue to question whether the long-term economic benefits will outweigh the substantial public costs tied to hosting the global sporting event.
