    In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that vandals had intentionally damaged both the Reflecting Pool and surrounding grounds.

    “We’ve had some real problems with vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool,” Trump wrote, alleging that individuals had destroyed grass near the site and damaged the newly installed interior surface.

    The president also suggested that chemicals may have been deliberately used to damage the project, comparing the incident to a separate investigation involving markings discovered on the National Mall.

    However, no public evidence has been presented to substantiate the allegations, and agencies responsible for the area, including the United States Park Police, the National Park Service, and the United States Department of the Interior, had not immediately commented on the claims.

    According to reports, Park Police arrested an individual on Friday who was allegedly observed peeling paint from the pool. While that incident may explain some localized damage, it does not account for broader issues that have emerged, including widespread paint separation and a significant algae bloom that turned the water green.

    The Reflecting Pool renovation was undertaken as part of preparations for America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Trump had championed the project, which reportedly cost more than $14 million and included painting the pool’s bottom what he described as “American flag blue” in an effort to create a more visually striking appearance.

    Soon after the renovation, however, the pool experienced a substantial algae outbreak. Federal workers responded by treating the water with chemicals designed to eliminate the growth.

    The cleanup effort appears to have coincided with further deterioration, as large sections of the blue coating have since detached from the pool floor, exposing the original rocky surface beneath.

    Trump linked the damage to another recent controversy involving large numbers, “86 47,” discovered etched into grass on the National Mall. Authorities are investigating the markings, with some interpreting “86” as slang for removing or getting rid of someone and “47” referring to Trump as the 47th president.

    The Reflecting Pool, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the nation’s capital, has long served as a centerpiece of the National Mall and attracts millions of visitors each year. The current problems have generated debate over whether the renovation design, environmental factors, maintenance challenges, or vandalism are responsible for the project’s setbacks.

    For now, officials have not publicly confirmed any connection between the pool’s condition and intentional acts of sabotage, leaving questions about the source of the damage unresolved.
