Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu received former Senate President, Pius Anyim, who recently defected from the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
\nAnyim was led to President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja by the Chairman of the Progressives Governors\u2019 Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and his Ebonyi State counterpart, Francis Nwifuru.
\nSpeaking with newsmen after meeting with the President, Anyim while justifying his defection said that given the challenges the country is facing, there\u2019s a need to put all hands on deck.
\nAlso speaking, Uzodimma described Anyim as a big fish caught by the ruling party.
\nNwifuru stressed that Anyim is not a small fry and is not looking for food. Recently, Ezenwo Onyewuchi, the senator representing Imo East, defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the APC.
\nAnyim, who has been a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999, and Onyewuchi are two bigwigs the ruling party has gained in two weeks.<\/p>\n
