    Wedding, 43, who had been living in Mexico, is accused of being the mastermind behind a criminal enterprise that moved around 60 tons of cocaine annually across the Americas. U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada revealed the organization’s violent methods, including contracting killings of anyone who posed a threat to the operation. Among the victims were two innocent civilians in Caledon, Ontario, who were mistakenly targeted in November 2023 as part of a retaliation for a stolen drug shipment.

    Double Homicide and Connection to Ontario Murders

    Authorities believe that Wedding’s organization was responsible for the murders of Jagtar and Harbhajan Sidhu, a visiting couple from India, in connection to a drug-related dispute. Their daughter, Jaspreet Kaur Sidhu, was also gravely injured in the attack. Wedding and his accomplices are additionally linked to another murder in Ontario in May 2024 over a drug debt, with the investigation ongoing.

    The Tunisian pilot who flew the chartered ValueJet plane carrying the Nigerian Super Eagles to Libya, has claimed he was instructed by Libyan authority to divert the plane to a different location.

    According to the pilot, the original flight plan was to land the aircraft in Benghazi, Libya, as approved by the aviation authorities. But later they were suddenly directed by officials to divert to another airport just as they neared their destination.

    Nigeria defeated Libya 1-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11. Both nations were scheduled to play the return leg in Libya on October 15.

    The pilot said he warned the officials that the diversion would have severely impacted their fuel reserves, and could compromise the safety of the flight.

    The pilot later complied with the directive. Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely in Mitiga with no challenges.

    This revelation comes hours after Super Eagles players reported that had been mistreated by Libyan authorities ahead of their Tuesday match, which they later boycotted and flew back home after being stranded at the airport for 20 hours.

    In a series of tweets early Monday morning, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong described the situation as “disgraceful,” accusing the hosts of playing “mind games.”

    He revealed that the team was kept in an abandoned airport with no access to food, drink, or phone connections.

    The Super Eagles have threatened not to take part in the 2025 AFCON qualifier against Libya as they are still at Al Abraq Airport more than 12 hours after landing in the country.
    A statement by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Communications Department on Monday, said the team were left unattended to at the Al Abraq Airport.

    A video posted by the Eagles media team also confirmed the development, as the players and officials, along with their luggage, were left stranded at the airport, with the Libyan airport officials indifferent to their plight.

    The Eagles departed for Libya on Sunday morning, ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday 4 clash against the Mediterranean Knights.

    Libya was to host the three-time African champions at the 10,000-capacity Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, located just 10 kilometres from Benghazi, but reports emerged that they were diverted to another city.

    “The chartered ValueJet aircraft was, strangely and dangerously, diverted to the small airport away from Benghazi just as the pilot was completing his approach to the Benghazi Airport. We understand the Al Abraq International Airport is only used for hajj operations.
    “Fatigued players and officials have remained nonplussed as the host Libyan Football Federation failed to send any reception team or even vehicles to take the delegation members from the airport to their hotel, said to be 3 hours away in Benghazi.

    “The NFF made arrangements for separate vehicles for the team but the plan was unhinged by the diversion of the aircraft,” the statement read in part.

    It added that the players have resolved not to play the match any longer, as NFF officials are making plans to fly the team back home.
